Maine Seasons Events Turquoise, Pink and Saffron wedding on 100 Layer Cake and in Brides Magazine!

What a fun event this was: when our client actually wants to use bright, fun colors and is open to your wild suggestion of using turquoise Chivari chairs?!?
Ed and Ruth's delightful July wedding was full of hand made details and whimsical touches from hand made lobster bibs for the guests, escort cards, make your own lemonade favors to hand sewn invitations and heart boutonnieres.
We used our vintage plate collection in the colors of the palette for dinner, our and my sweet blue dresser for a pre ceremony beverage station.

The gorgeous film of the day was made by Zach Boyce, you can see it here!
We are so excited that their wedding was featured on 100 Layer Cake blog today, and there is also an 8 page spread in Brides Magazine for March. A big thank you to all of the talented people who helped us make this event a beautiful success, and congratulations Ed and Ruth!

Maine Seasons Events Orange, Gray and Blue Barn Wedding on Style Me Pretty

Dear clients of ours, Emily and Dan celebrated their marriage on 9/10/11, on a gorgeous autumn day here in Maine.

Their pretty and vibrant wedding was featured on Style Me Pretty today, what a treat! All of the beautiful photographs were captured by Sharyn Peavey.
A big thank you to my right hand, Charli as well as all of the vendors and talented professionals who made this special day a beautiful reality. See the list of talents below for the who's who on the team for this event!
There was some real collaboration on this event, including a lot of participation from the couple and the groom's mom-I sourced the table runner fabric, a woolen plaid, and Dan's mom sewed them all. She even used the extra fabric to make floor pillows to coordinate with those I made for the lounge tent couches and chairs.
There were home made jam favors, and hand made drink flags, and Judy of Flora Fauna contributed many great ideas such as the tree stumps lining the aisle with candles and flowers, the chicken wire cocktail table vases and the pops of turquoise on the guest tables.
Emily's bouquet was one of my favorites of the 2011 wedding season, a masterpiece incorporating maidenhair fern, David Austin roses, orchids, gomphrena and dusty miller-all tied with vintage blue ribbon.
111 Maine Catering served up a fabulous meal and late night mini milkshakes to go with the cookies that Dan's mom made. We made fabric belly bands and little signs for each jar of cookies.
The beautiful and textural stationery was created by Gus & Ruby Letterpress, in the perfect orange ink color-with a graphic of the numbers of the wedding date.
Congratulations Emily & Dan, and our best wishes for many, many adventure filled years ahead!

Maine Seasons Events Lake Wedding featured on Style Me Pretty's Little Black Book Blog!

We are excited that one of Maine Seasons Events clients' weddings was featured today on Style Me Pretty's Little Black Book Blog!
It is quite possible that Mary and Ian are one of the most beautiful and sweetest couples I have had the honor to work with, really.
Mary & Ian are based in Boston, and reached out to Maine Seasons Events to design and plan their labor day weekend wedding celebration. Sharyn Peavey photographed the wedding day portion of the event, and captured some fun moments! The four days of festivities took place at Ian’s childhood friend’s camp on Echo Lake in Maine. The guests spent the weekend on camp property in the camp cabins and enjoyed water and land sports, cookouts, grilled cheese bars, and a hardy brunch each day provided by the camp chef.
Here is the color palette we chose for their design:

The design incorporated the rustic feel of the lake side camp while exuding sophistication with a touch of glamour. We chose custom black ticking table runners to echo the color of the loons’ plumage who frequent the lake.

Base table runners in grey -spruce green cotton highlighted the camps natural cedar tables. Gold Chivari ballroom chairs were added as an unexpected touch of sparkle in the room to balance all the natural wood.

Vintage blue glass vessels and miniature tree stumps mixed with vintage gold edge glass provided containers for luscious flowers by Flora Fauna in a palette of grey, green, ivory, and blue. Mary and Ian’s ceremony took place in a field on the edge of the lake surrounded by tall pine trees and family and friends. Ava and I had fun collecting all of the blue glass over the winter!

Parrott Design Studio created beautiful stationery, printed on wood grain textured paper and incorporating a loon, the lake and evergreen trees in the colors of the palette, such a pretty collection of stationery and perfect for the location and we loved the wood grain paper the invitations were printed on.

Cocktails were enjoyed on the large deck overlooking the camp and the lake, and dinner and dancing were held in the dining hall, with twinkle lights, muslin drapes and wagon wheel chandeliers overhead.

One of the many fun highlights of the day: we took the bridal party out on the floats after the ceremony, just before dusk and walked around on the lake for some fun pictures.

Our best wishes to you Mary and Ian, we loved working with you!

A few of My Favorite Things

Whiskers on kittens, blue satin sashes....snowflakes that stick to my nose and eyelashes...In the holiday season I am more aware of how thankful I am for what we have and the people and pretty things that I love. Looking around the house today, I realize a few of my favorite things are right here....
My ever growing fabric stash
Our vintage camera collection
Wine cork mushroom ornaments made with my 4 year old
Our collection of vintage post cards of places we love to visit, and an old map of Boston
Colorful books
stacks of books
Inspiration bulletin board ideas
woodland holiday terrarium
simple table decoration
friendly light up garden gnome, red owl with my husband's photography and vintage blue glass, leopard print lampshade and vintage metal picnic basket tin
fabric stash items
colorful unexpected everyday items collected over time
thrift store plates with fabric pennants and husband's original painting
colors and ideas that inspire my work
vintage blanket yarn, thread, honeymoon souvenir and more pretty books
And of course. My favorite, favorite: my daughter playing across the room
Now I don't feel so bad!

Pets at Weddings-a Love and Lobster interview with Maine Seasons Events

(photo by emilie inc.) Recently I was interviewed by Love and Lobster blog about including pets at weddings. I have seen some things, I will say, and I was happy to shed (no pun intended, hee-hee!) some light on things many people don't consider in regard to the safety and comfort of animals at weddings. Having worked at a veterinary hospital in my past life, I have learned a few things about how animals can innocently get into trouble quickly.
Have a read, and I hope you find some interesting and helpful information there if you are planning on including your pet in your wedding!
