Earth Dinner at Flanagan's Table

Flanagan's Table hosted the team from Earth restaurant, and we created a Maine woods inspired design that included elements of branches, moss, succulents, fire and water.  Photos by Heidi of Brea McDonald Photography.

We installed lit grapevine orbs over the table in a constellation and piece by piece, created a canopy of foraged tree branches over the orbs.  I wanted it to feel like you were outside, inside.  Chris painstakingly stood on a ladder, installing each branch, while I gave visual direction from below, all told, it took 30 hours of installation and foraging.

Layered terrariums of sand, peat and pebbles held assorted green succulents and floating candles atop ferns with over 100 candles on the table represented the earth with elements of fire, plants and water.  We created a herringbone table runner that represented wood bark, over Flanagan's Table's signature nubby linen runner.

I love the action shots in the kitchen, as much artistry, passion and skill goes into creating food as it does to create an event design. (if not more!)  I always feel privileged to watch experts in creative fields doing their work.

This tattoo might just be the best I have seen, perfect!

A branchy, woodland, earthy setting for a beautiful dinner.
The next dinner is coming soon, stay tuned!

Flanagan's Table Valentine's Day Dinner with Chef Erin French of {the} Lost Kitchen

For the Valentine's Dinner at Flanagan's Table, we created a soft and dreamy atmosphere in the barn for a special holiday dinner.  Photographer, Brea McDonald expertly captured not only the feel of the design of the table, light and fabric installations, but also the spirit and energy in the kitchen with Chef Erin French and her team, beautifully creating beautiful food.

Flanagan's Table,  in partnership with Maine Farmland Trust, is a monthly dinner series featuring a rotating guest chef from Maine. Set inside The Barn at Flanagan Farm, the five-course dinners feature  local  produce,  cheese,  meats,  and  pantry  staples  alongside  wine  and  Maine  beer.  In coming together around Flanagan's Table, guests have the chance to further the efforts of Maine Farmland Trust, to which a percentage of the overall proceeds are donated, and to preserve Maine agriculture all the while ensuring the luxury and longevity of eating in a truly farm-to-table fashion.

Working with Alex, the dinner series organizer,  our overall inspiration was abundant light.  With twinkle lights, lots of muslin curtain panels, vintage silver collections and grapevine orbs we aimed to create a space within the space.   Thank you to Chris & Ava for your installation support and work!
We created an entrance of curtains that framed the center view of the 44 foot long table, and installed curtains beyond the entrance to draw the guests into the space.

As the sky grew dark on the snowy field behind the barn, the interior of the barn began to glow with candlelight and the cozy warmth of twinkle lights.

We created a custom table runner in colors of gray, pale pink and deep red, and added a few pops of David Austin Juliet garden roses as the only flowers, sprinkled down the table.  We used over 100 votive candles and 50 taper candles, along with  20 pillar candles in newspaper wrapped cylinders to create the warm glow down the table.  Over 170 candles!  The newspaper bands were a nod to love letters, or old newspaper clippings you might find in your grandmother's attic, and a way to reuse and recycle within the design.

Chef Erin French toasts the guests..Chef French is opening her restaurant at a new location, you can read about her work and inspirations on her blog, here.  And about her new restaurant here.

I love this photo of the sea salt sprinkled, in mid air, while Chef French checks the pot in the background...
Not only was the food colorful and special, but the artful display was a treat to see.

Everyone looks beautiful in candle light!

Maine Summer Purple, Grey & Magenta Wedding

Quintessential New England charm is what attracted our dear clients Katherine & Ian to the Barn on Walnut Hill. We created a layout that allowed for guests to move about the property,  with cocktails on the lawn,  a white tent for dinner,  and dancing & dessert in the barn. We used our vintage tea service vessels and collection of milk glass for the summery flower arrangements and made custom grey graphic table runners to go on the tables.  The couple rode in a vintage Bentley from the ceremony and

Another Maine Seasons Events' Take on Maine Rustic Meets Wedding Glamour...

Alicia and Jamie who fell in love with Maine on just a weekend visit, chose to celebrate their wedding at The Barn on Walnut Hill, which provided just the rustic charm they were looking for.  The fun was really in adding glamour and sophistication to the rustic backdrop, while mixing feminine and masculine style elements.

Details included custom wool plaid table runners made in house,  to go over wooden farm tables, and a white lace runner over grey linens on the other half of the round tables.  Our collection of vintage silver mercury and milk glass provided vessels for the floral arrangements and candles.  The late October date in Maine gave us temperatures that required us to have the ceremony inside the barn. We draped muslin fabric in the interior of the barn ceiling which created a cozy feel. The dinner was held in a lovely tent, adorned with a fabric ceiling and crystal chandeliers.  There was a beautiful candle lighting ceremony where all of the guests lit a candle from the others' and in a matter of minutes the whole barn was aglow with the 150 candles of the entire group-beautiful.

Please visit Style Me Pretty to see the lovely feature on this wedding there!

A big thank you to the talented team who helped us create this gorgeous event!
