Wait So Long...Brides Magazine Features Josh & Rick's Bar Harbor Wedding!

Some exciting news around the office: Brides Magazine chose our clients' wedding to be their first two grooms wedding to be featured, ever!  We planned and designed our dear clients Josh and Rick's wedding last July in Bar Harbor, and Brides featured their gorgeous and special day in their August 2012 issue.

It was a great experience to work with these two, who genuinely love each other so much, and took such care in each decision and design choice for their wedding celebration.

We held the couple's dog Catalina in the church during the ceremony and as they were pronounced married, we handed the exuberant pup over and she led Josh and Rick back down the aisle, I love the joy on their faces here.
Congratulations Josh and Rick, upon your one year anniversary, it was a delight to help you become married, and here's to you for making history!

Many great wedding vendors helped us make this day a gorgeous reality:

Gilded Glamour Photo Shoot on Style Me Pretty

As the first of March brings in a classic Nor' Easter, I needed this dose of spring today!
Our Gilded Glamour Photo shoot was featured on Style Me Pretty and the colors are even prettier when I look at the blizzard outside the windows right now! The table ruffles were fun to sew, and they added such great texture to the tables. Judy of Flora Fauna came up with some unique and perfect blue glass containers for the flowers as well as an assortment of gold pretties that we combined with my truck load of props to adorn the cake, dessert table, it was a busy day of collaboration. It was like shopping through all of the boxes and crates we brought, filled to the brim with accessories, dishes, glasses and even my trusty crystal chandelier. The only sad part is packing up and cleaning up after you have played all day!
Corbin Gurkin's photos brought some pretty cheer to this gray day, the light in her photos cheers me.
I love to see my humble little props in a pretty photograph, that gold mirror above I found at a yard sale for $4! And the gold plates under the menus on the tables were a little set scored at an antiques shop for a song-gold plates, what a treat!
This design was full of feminine details, gilded accents and pops of spring time color, it was almost a year ago that we shot this... A big thank you to everyone who contributed their time and talents to this shoot!
This shoot was also featured in Maine Magazine's Wedding issue recently, it created a buzz with the pretty colors against the gray sky and the formal interior of the location.
Inspired by the texture and feeling of a Swiss dot wedding dress, this design started with a palette of robin’s egg blue, pale peach, raw muslin and gold. When collecting elements and props, old gold framed mirrors, cake stands and plates came together with yards and yards of pale blue and raw muslin, which we sewed into fluffy ruffles to adorn the tables. Against an heirloom estate backdrop, gold ballroom chairs, a crystal chandelier and crystal stemware added glamour and sophistication to the table scape. Luscious flower arrangements, containers and bouquets by Flora Fauna included the spring’s best picks of tulips, anemones, David Austin roses and delphinium, arranged in an eclectic mix of gold and pale blue glass containers. Custom letterpress stationery from Gus & Ruby Letterpress and calligraphed by Neither Snow, adorned with hand painted edges and tulle posies from Paper Posy Designs, along with a ruffled tiered cake from Nothing Bakes Like a Parrott completed the glamorous look.

Maine Seasons Events Turquoise, Pink and Saffron wedding on 100 Layer Cake and in Brides Magazine!

What a fun event this was: when our client actually wants to use bright, fun colors and is open to your wild suggestion of using turquoise Chivari chairs?!?
Ed and Ruth's delightful July wedding was full of hand made details and whimsical touches from hand made lobster bibs for the guests, escort cards, make your own lemonade favors to hand sewn invitations and heart boutonnieres.
We used our vintage plate collection in the colors of the palette for dinner, our and my sweet blue dresser for a pre ceremony beverage station.

The gorgeous film of the day was made by Zach Boyce, you can see it here!
We are so excited that their wedding was featured on 100 Layer Cake blog today, and there is also an 8 page spread in Brides Magazine for March. A big thank you to all of the talented people who helped us make this event a beautiful success, and congratulations Ed and Ruth!

Maine Seasons Events Orange, Gray and Blue Barn Wedding on Style Me Pretty

Dear clients of ours, Emily and Dan celebrated their marriage on 9/10/11, on a gorgeous autumn day here in Maine.

Their pretty and vibrant wedding was featured on Style Me Pretty today, what a treat! All of the beautiful photographs were captured by Sharyn Peavey.
A big thank you to my right hand, Charli as well as all of the vendors and talented professionals who made this special day a beautiful reality. See the list of talents below for the who's who on the team for this event!
There was some real collaboration on this event, including a lot of participation from the couple and the groom's mom-I sourced the table runner fabric, a woolen plaid, and Dan's mom sewed them all. She even used the extra fabric to make floor pillows to coordinate with those I made for the lounge tent couches and chairs.
There were home made jam favors, and hand made drink flags, and Judy of Flora Fauna contributed many great ideas such as the tree stumps lining the aisle with candles and flowers, the chicken wire cocktail table vases and the pops of turquoise on the guest tables.
Emily's bouquet was one of my favorites of the 2011 wedding season, a masterpiece incorporating maidenhair fern, David Austin roses, orchids, gomphrena and dusty miller-all tied with vintage blue ribbon.
111 Maine Catering served up a fabulous meal and late night mini milkshakes to go with the cookies that Dan's mom made. We made fabric belly bands and little signs for each jar of cookies.
The beautiful and textural stationery was created by Gus & Ruby Letterpress, in the perfect orange ink color-with a graphic of the numbers of the wedding date.
Congratulations Emily & Dan, and our best wishes for many, many adventure filled years ahead!
